Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 5,726 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in May 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,406 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including ten anti-personnel mines, 68 anti-tank mines, 1,326 UXO and two IEDs, bringing the total of items cleared in May to 5,726.
The project’s demining teams cleared 244,946 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 904,813 square metres, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 56,881,560 square meters of Yemeni land.
