Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 4,320 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in May 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,375 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including four anti-personnel mines, 11 anti-tank mines, 1,345 UXO and , bringing the total of items cleared in May to 4,320.
The project’s demining teams cleared 190,135 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 659,867 square metres, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 56,636,614 square meters of Yemeni land.
