Project Masam for clearing Yemeni lands of mines carried out an operation to destroy and detonate 4,650 mines, unexploded shells, and explosive devices in Al-Tala’a Al-Hamra area in Sarwah directorate, west of Ma’arib governorate.
The destruction operation carried out by Team 11 Masam, under the direct supervision of Masam experts and in the presence of the Director General of the National Program for Mines Action, Brigadier General Amin Al-Aqili, this was Operation 23 for Masam engineering teams in Ma’arib Governorate, and the 94 for Project Masam in Yemen.
In a special statement to Masam Media Office, Engineer Saleh Tarik, leader of Team 11 Masam, confirmed that the amount of mines and unexploded ordnance that were destroyed by his team had been removed and collected by Masam engineering teams during the past two months from several areas that witnessed confrontations and were exposed to mines planting.
For his part, the Managing Director of Project Masam confirmed in a statement published by Masam Media Office that the project teams have cleared from end of June 2018 to January 1st, 208,505 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices.
AlGosaibi said that from the project beginning, Masam teams managed to clear 18,117,920 square meters of Yemeni lands that were booby-trapped with mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices.
