Team 3 Masam was able, since it started its work in the middle of 2018, to secure and clear 18 fields and mined areas with a size estimated at 79 thousand square meters, in many regions, including Marib province where the team works nowadays.
In an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office, the leader of team 3 Engineer Abdallah Abdaljalil confirmed that his team was able until now to clear 18 thousand landmines, explosive devices and unexploded ordnance from the fields and mined areas it was working to secure.
Team 3 Masam is comprised of 7 clearers and a medical attaché, who were well trained and qualified by project Masam’s experts, which had a positive impact on the level of achievements made by the team.
Team 3 Masam works nowadays in Al Jufaynah region of Marib province which is a vast area, with a complicated geography as it has hills, plateaus and valleys, and work there requires huge efforts and high skills.
Team 3 Masam is one of 4 clearing teams that were assigned by project Masam to secure Al Jufaynah region from the Houthis’ landmines and war remnants that turned Al Jufaynah into deadly fields.
Masam’s clearing teams have worked during the last two year to secure vast areas of Al Jufaynah region, and its secured regions are now populated areas that host many displaced camps.
As for the obstacles that Masam’s teams faced, the leader of team 3 reiterated that the rain torrents drifted landmines from the conflict areas in Sarwah directorates to the regions the teams cleared before, and for the safety of civilians, the teams came back again to survey these regions to protect civilians’ lives.
