The earth Breathed again, and green returned to cover the farms in Qataba region of Al Khokha, as smile came back to the faces of its children, and calm to the hearts of its inhabitants.
So, happiness filled the hearts and faces of Masam project’s heroes, as they were watching the fruit of their achievements after a hard work that lasted for over a year, and which still continues in order to normalize life and defeat the death project which the Houthi militias planted in this region.
Engineer Samy Sa’id, a member in Masam’s team 28 says in an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office: “We feel happy with what we achieved in a short period. We were able to secure many regions in Al Khokha directorate, and enabled the citizens to return safely to their homes and farms”
Samy Sa’id confirmed that “his team was able, since it started its mission in the Masam project, to remove 2022 mines, explosive devices and unexploded ordnance from 13 fields and mined areas, starting from Al Mushi to Al Hayma region in Al Khokha directorate.
He reiterated that his team will continue its humanitarian mission until Yemen is fully secured from the danger of mines that were planted in order to kill civilians and hinder their return to their homes and farms.
Qataba region is one of the agricultural and residential regions of Al Khokha directorate in Al Hudaydah governorate, it also witnessed a wave of forced displacements, as its farms, villages and crossing were contaminated with thousands of mines and explosive devices, which the Houthi militias were good at planting and hiding in order to kill civilians who were returning to their regions.
Ali Ibrahim Al Ahdal, who is a resident of Qataba region says in an exclusive interview with Masam’s Media office: “We suffered immensely after the liberation of our region due to the big numbers of mines that were planted by the Houthi militias everywhere; in roads, narrow streets, farms and homes”
He adds: “the mines killed 4 women in my family and injured 3 others, including me”
He said: “we couldn’t move, our homes were desterted and our farms barren because we were scared of mines, until Masam’s engineering teams came and removed the mines, secured the region and allowed us to return safely”
Mr Al Ahdal sent a message of gratitude to Masam project and its engineering teams for helping the citizens and enabling them to return to their homes and farms, adding that “we are planting our farms today, and reaping their fruits thanks to Masam project
