A Project Masam supervisor has confirmed that operations are continuing in the Jabal Habashi Directorate of Yemen’s Taiz Governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Colonel Aref Al Qahtani, in charge of Project Masam\u2019s demining teams in Taiz Governorate, explained that Project Masam’s Team 22 was sent to Al-Shaab School in Akkad village after Jabal Habashi Directorate and the Education Department urgently reported the presence of landmines in and around the school’s vicinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, Team 22 found dozens of landmines hidden under the school’s rubble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Once again, Project Masam demonstrated its professionalism and dedication as it cleared landmines in Al Shaab School,” Al Qahtani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0Al Qahtani explained that Team 22 started emergency work in the school, after Project Masam’s management agreed to remove the rubble to enable the engineering team to work in safe conditions, in adherence with Mine Action general safety and emergency\u00a0procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al Qahtani highlighted how Project Masam instructed the construction of a protective wall surrounding the site of operations – allowing for the professionals to safely remove rubble and landmines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This measure is also meant to protect students and civilians in this area and to ensure their safety from explosive threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The supervision also indicated that Team 22 carried out an awareness campaign for the students and the educational staff before starting the clearance process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
