{"id":3898,"date":"2022-11-09T14:31:16","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T14:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projectmasam.com\/v2\/?p=3898"},"modified":"2022-11-09T14:31:16","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T14:31:16","slug":"masams-team-23-secures-mawza-district-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/masams-team-23-secures-mawza-district-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Masam\u2019s team 23 secures Mawza district schools\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One of Masam&#8217;s demining teams has secured a number of schools located in Yemen&#8217;s western Mawza district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mawza is located in Taiz Governorate, one of Yemen\u2019s heavily contaminated areas which have seen the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@project.masam\/landmines-have-become-the-largest-cause-of-civilian-casualties-in-yemen-and-the-world-needs-to-739fa51f938d\">majority of people injured or killed by explosive remnants of wa<\/a>r (ERW), according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Masam&#8217;s Team 23 announced it <a href=\"https:\/\/projectmasam.com\/v2\/en\/2022\/11\/09\/director-of-mawza-educational-department-commends-masam-teams-role-in-restoring-life-to-villages-and-schools-of-the-district\/\">secured schools<\/a> in the previously heavily mine district on November 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The schools were thoroughly surveyed in search for any suspicious explosive item that may have threatened the lives of students and educational staff.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leader of Team 23, Engineer Abdo Ibrahim, said his team&#8217;s goal was to restore security and stability to these vital educational facilities, so that schools are able to welcome students and staff again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with schools, Masam prioritises vital facilities such as water supplies (wells), homes, farms and roads, so that Yemenis&#8217; lives can return to normal without the threat of Houthis&#8217; indiscriminately planted landmines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This comes as Team 23 also announced it had successfully <a href=\"https:\/\/projectmasam.com\/v2\/en\/2022\/11\/08\/masams-team-23-clears-18-water-wells-of-landmines-in-yemens-mawza-district\/\">secured the water wells in Al-Safalia<\/a> in Mawza district, allowing for the return of civilians including farmers, who are now able to practice their agricultural activities safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"R 1020 EN\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JuhcEtNe3Rw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of Masam&#8217;s demining teams has secured a number of schools located in Yemen&#8217;s western Mawza district.
