{"id":3879,"date":"2022-11-09T12:57:28","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T12:57:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projectmasam.com\/v2\/?p=3879"},"modified":"2022-11-09T12:57:28","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T12:57:28","slug":"director-of-mawza-educational-department-commends-masam-teams-role-in-restoring-life-to-villages-and-schools-of-the-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/director-of-mawza-educational-department-commends-masam-teams-role-in-restoring-life-to-villages-and-schools-of-the-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Director of Mawza Educational Department commends Masam teams\u2019 role in restoring life to villages and schools of the district\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Standing in front of the Zaid Oyoun school, which was damaged by a landmines, Ali Muhammad Abdo, Director of the Mawza Educational Department, told Masam that Houthi landmines have tragically impacted Mawza civilians, including young men, women and children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abdo confirmed that Houthi militias have been systematically planting landmines and improvised explosive items (IEDs), which have disrupted life in most of the <a href=\"https:\/\/projectmasam.com\/v2\/en\/2022\/11\/08\/masams-team-23-clears-18-water-wells-of-landmines-in-yemens-mawza-district\/\">villages and surrounding areas<\/a> of Mawza district.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was an eyewitness to several incidents caused by landmines indiscriminately planted by the Houthi militia in the Al-Safaliyah and Bani Hazm areas, as well as the human and material damage militias left behind,&#8221; Abdo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the official, Masam&#8217;s demining teams are playing a crucial humanitarian role in clearing Yemeni territory of landmines, with Abdo highlighting how Masam\u2019s teams have played a key role in securing villages, schools, farms and roads in his district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life returned to normal, students have gone back to their schools and farmers to their farms, Abdo explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Masam\u2019s teams dealt seriously with these explosive threats and were able to secure save civilian lives from a large number of Houthi landmines, Abdo added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Masam\u2019s teams are continuing their clearance activities in Mawza district.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a letter of thanks to Masam&#8217;s demining teams, meanwhile, Abdo welcomed the fact that Masam teams are currently carrying out survey and clearance operations in the north, south and west of the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mawza is located in Taiz Governorate, one of Yemen&#8217;s heavily contaminated areas which have seen the <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@project.masam\/landmines-have-become-the-largest-cause-of-civilian-casualties-in-yemen-and-the-world-needs-to-739fa51f938d\">majority of people injured or killed by explosive remnants of wa<\/a>r (ERW), according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"R 1022 EN\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yElYavszyqE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
