This work was carried out by Masam teams. The project is expected to serve around 700 families, or approximately 4,200 people, in the villages of Al Manasib, Al Jarida, Al Atma and Al Jum’ah, particularly in light of increased demand linked to population growth.

Mahyoub stated that securing the pipeline route and project sites represents an important step in improving daily conditions for residents, including reducing the need for children to miss school in order to collect water.

Engineer Mohammed Alwan, Deputy Leader of Project Masam’s demining Team 26, said the team worked to secure the full project area, including the reservoir site and pipeline routes extending from the well to residential areas.

He noted that the project covers approximately 65,000 square metres. Since work began on 14 April 2026, most of the area has been cleared, with a limited section remaining before quality assurance procedures are completed and the site is handed over to implementing partners.

Alwan added that teams faced operational challenges, including mountainous terrain, high temperatures, mineral-dense soil, and working within residential areas and narrow access routes. Despite these conditions, clearance activities have progressed steadily.

This work forms part of Project Masam’s wider efforts to remove landmines and explosive remnants of war, support essential services, and improve living conditions in affected communities across Yemen.

Project Masam has cleared and secured large areas in Al Jum’ah district in Al Mocha, in Yemen’s Taiz Governorate, enabling the implementation of a water project intended to improve access to a reliable water supply for several villages.
