Project Masam has recently begun demining operations in the Midi district of Hajjah province<\/a>, in northern Yemen, after completing a month-long field survey and training for both clearance and medical support teams, marking an expansion of their broader humanitarian landmine\u2010clearance mission.<\/p>\n \u201cWe thank Project Masam for its tremendous efforts and great sacrifices to protect the Yemeni people from mines planted by the Houthi militia with devastating intensity, targeting land, lives, and livelihoods,\u201d Al-Hatef said in a statement.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cWe also commend the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for this project and other humanitarian initiatives. We call on residents of the liberated areas to cooperate with the field teams to accelerate the demining operations.\u201d<\/p>\n Al-Hatef explained that Project Masam\u2019s deployment in the districts of Midi, Hayran, Abs, and Mustaba came at a critical time, following floods that swept Houthi mines into liberated areas, further endangering civilians<\/a>. He stressed that demining operations in such vast areas require intensified efforts and strong cooperation between authorities and civilians.<\/p>\n It is worth noting that the project\u2019s field teams, which include deminers and medical personnel, began their operations on Sunday (7 September 2025) in the Midi district of Hajjah Governorate. Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi confirmed that once the teams entered the district, they immediately began surveying and clearance operations after completing a full month of field preparations.<\/p>\n In a press statement, Algosaibi emphasised that the work in Hajjah marks a new phase in the project\u2019s humanitarian mission. He explained that both field and medical teams had undergone specialised training programmes under the supervision of Project Masam experts, including Training Advisors.<\/p>\n The managing director also expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the Joint Operations and the Command of the Fifth Military Region, stressing that the Midi district will serve as the starting point of a broader campaign across other districts in Hajjah, based on a clear timetable that prioritises the areas most heavily contaminated by mines<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Yemeni Shura Council, Yemen\u2019s upper house of Parliament, is made up of appointed members who provide policy advice and recommendations. While it lacks full legislative power, it plays a political role in supporting the internationally recognised government.<\/p>\n The Tihama Resistance, a locally formed resistance movement operating along Yemen\u2019s western Red Sea coast, particularly in Hudaydah and Hajjah, is aligned with Yemen\u2019s recognised government and the Coalition, and it fights against Houthi forces to defend local communities.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
