Project Masam has announced that its teams have located and destroyed a total of 501,243 explosive devices in Yemen\u2019s liberated areas since the project\u2019s inception in mid-2018.<\/p>\n
These include 6,802 anti-personnel mines, 146,712 anti-tank mines, 339,485 unexploded ordnance (UXO), and 8,240 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), cleared across 67,748,706 square metres of land.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias<\/a> escalated in 2014, strategic areas<\/a> have been left heavily contaminated with Houthi-laid anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, as well as remnants of war.<\/p>\n In the week of 14\u201320 June 2025, Project Masam\u2019s deminers removed 1,243 deadly items, including 4 anti-personnel landmines, 57 anti-tank mines, and 1,182 UXO. No IEDs were recorded that week.
