Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 478,222 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,698 anti-personnel mines, 145,892 anti-tank mines, 317,447 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,185 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) cleared over 63,916,959 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (4 January 2025 \u2013 10 January 2025) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 639 deadly items, including eight anti-personnel mines, 45 anti-tank mines, 585 UXO, and one IED, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
