Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 472,688 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,685 anti-personnel mines, 145,758 anti-tank mines, 312,075 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,170 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) cleared over 62,808,362 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (7 December \u2013 13 December 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 846 deadly items, including three anti-personnel mines, 39 anti-tank mines, 801 UXO, and one IED, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
