Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 471,842 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,682 anti-personnel mines, 145,719 anti-tank mines, 311,272 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,169 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) cleared over 62,593,605 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (30 November \u2013 6 December 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 808 deadly items, including four anti-personnel mines, 65 anti-tank mines, 731 UXO, and eight IEDs, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
