Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 463,673 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,606 anti-personnel mines, 145,306 anti-tank mines, 305,185 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,155 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 60,508,926 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (28 September \u2013 4 October 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 1,579 deadly items, including five anti-personnel mines, 126 anti-tank mines, 1,442 UXO and six IEDs, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
