Ahmed Borji, the Director General of Planning in Hudaydah Governorate, has commended Project Masam, run by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief),’s humanitarian landmine clearance efforts in Yemen’s strategic Hudaydah Governorate located on the Red Sea.<\/p>\n
The Iran-backed Ansar Allah, known commonly as the Houthis<\/a>, has continued to plant sea and landmines<\/a> in and along the Red Sea.<\/p>\n Borji attended a meeting with Project Masam’s Qassim Al-Dosari, the Assistant Managing Director of the Masam Project, Fayez Al-Harbi, Technical Expert, and Vince Farrell, Senior Technical Advisor on Monday (19 August) at the project’s headquarters in Yemen’s de-facto capital Aden.<\/p>\n During this visit, Borji praised the programme’s efforts and emphasised that the local authority in the governorate, led by Governor Dr. Al-Hassan Taher, is fully committed to facilitating the clearance of mines planted by Houthi militias.<\/p>\n Al-Dosari briefed Borji on the project’s activities and the challenges it encounters, highlighting that the terror group continues to plant thousands of mines in various areas of the province still under its control.<\/p>\n For his part, Al-Dosari discussed the substantial quantities of landmines<\/a> and remnants of war that the project has successfully removed.<\/p>\n These were planted by the Houthi militia across lands, roads, beaches, schools, and homes in Hudaydah – an area whose control is still divided between the internally-recognised government and the Houthis.
