Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 454,688 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,559 anti-personnel mines, 144,901 anti-tank mines, 295,126 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,102 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 58,654,867 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (3 August \u2013 9 August 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 720 deadly items, including three anti-personnel mines, 56 anti-tank mines, 647 UXO and 14 IEDs, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
