Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 453,298 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,551 anti-personnel mines, 144,771 anti-tank mines, 293,909 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,067 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 58,275,262 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (20 \u2013 26 July 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 1,390 deadly items, including five anti-personnel mines, 47 anti-tank mines, 1,337 UXO and one IED, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
