Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 449,068 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,537 anti-personnel mines, 144,602 anti-tank mines, 289,876 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,059 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 57,443,533 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (22 \u2013 29 June 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 755 deadly items, including 47 anti-tank mines, 707 UXO and one IED, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
