{"id":20980,"date":"2024-05-26T07:05:04","date_gmt":"2024-05-26T07:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/?p=20980"},"modified":"2024-05-26T07:05:35","modified_gmt":"2024-05-26T07:05:35","slug":"project-masam-clears-443452-landmines-and-explosive-threats-in-yemen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/project-masam-clears-443452-landmines-and-explosive-threats-in-yemen\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Masam clears 443,452 landmines and explosive threats in Yemen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 443,452 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n<p>These include 6,520 anti-personnel mines, 144,371 anti-tank mines, 284,515 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,046 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 56,636,614 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n<p>Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/project-masam-secures-30-of-%e2%80%8b%e2%80%8bdhubab-directorate-in-taiz-governorate\/\">strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/18298-2\/\">Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n<p>Last week (18 \u2013 24 May 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 1,375 deadly items, including four anti-personnel landmine, 11 anti-tank mines, 1,345 UXO and 15 IEDs, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
