Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 443,452 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,520 anti-personnel mines, 144,371 anti-tank mines, 284,515 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,046 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 56,636,614 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (18 \u2013 24 May 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 1,375 deadly items, including four anti-personnel landmine, 11 anti-tank mines, 1,345 UXO and 15 IEDs, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
