Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 440,067 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,505 anti-personnel mines, 144,341 anti-tank mines, 281,190 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,031 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 56,226,871 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (4 \u2013 10 May 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 934 deadly items, including seven anti-personnel landmine, 47 anti-tank mines, 875 UXO, and five IEDs according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
