Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 436,759 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,495 anti-personnel mines, 144,026 anti-tank mines, 278,220 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 8,018 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 55,393,442 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (30 March – 5 April 2024) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 383 deadly items, including one anti-personnel mine, 75 anti-tank mines, 300 UXO and eight IEDs, according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
