Project Masam has announced it has located and destroyed 425,264 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.<\/p>\n
These include 6,433 anti-personnel mines, 142,339 anti-tank mines, 268,569 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and 7,923 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) neutralised over 52,382,141 square metres of land since mid-2018.<\/p>\n
Since the conflict between Yemen\u2019s pro-government forces and Houthi militias escalated in 2014, liberated\u00a0strategic areas<\/a>\u00a0have been left littered with\u00a0Houthi anti-personnel mines<\/a>\u00a0and anti-tank mines, along with unexploded remnants of war.<\/p>\n Last week (9 December \u2013 15 December 2023) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 737 deadly items, including eight anti-personnel mines, 116 anti-tank mines, 611 UXO and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), according to Project Masam Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi.
