The Director of a Prosthetics Center in central\u00a0Yemeni city\u00a0of\u00a0Marib has claimed that Project Masam’s humanitarian landmine clearance efforts have contributed significantly to reducing the number of civilian casualties.<\/p>\n

Project Masam first started clearing landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and unexploded ordnance in Marib in mid-2018.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ashraf Bahamri, Director of the Prosthetics Center in Marib, visited Project Masam’s headquarters in Marib province.<\/p>\n

During his visit, Bahamri said that he had witnessed a fall in the number of landmine and IED\/UXO victims, and noted that the majority of victims received by his Prosthetics Center in Marib, which is funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), were women and children.<\/p>\n

Ahmed Bakheet, Project Masam’s Deputy Administrative and Logistical Director, stressed that Project Masam and the Prosthetics Center are collaborating to provide victim assistance in order to improve the living conditions of landmine victims in Yemen.<\/p>\n

At the end of the visit, Bahamri attended a photo exhibition displaying photos of victims and survivors of landmines and IEDs, in addition to photos documenting the efforts of Project Masam’s engineering teams which are deployed in eight Yemeni governorates.<\/p>\n
