{"id":19543,"date":"2023-03-22T09:33:24","date_gmt":"2023-03-22T09:33:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/?p=19543"},"modified":"2023-03-22T09:37:15","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T09:37:15","slug":"masam-demolishes-20-landmines-in-dhubab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/masam-demolishes-20-landmines-in-dhubab\/","title":{"rendered":"Masam demolishes 20 landmines in Yemen&#8217;s Dhubab"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Project Masam carried out the destruction and detonation of 20 landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Al-Hariqiyah area, in Dhubab district of Yemen&#8217;s Taiz governorate.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In a statement, the leader of Masam Team 29 said that the demolition operation, carried out by Masam&#8217;s Special Task Team, included five anti-tank mines and 15 UXO.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The damaged landmines and UXO posed a direct threat to the lives of the shepherds and their livestock, as the area was used for grazing sheep.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The leader of Team 29 added that these mines and UXO are of a type that is difficult and dangerous to transport to the central destruction site, due to their crumbling.<\/div>\n<div>Accordingly, the Special Tasks team disposed of them in the sites where they had been originally planted.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/safe-detonation-of-landmines-in-conversation-with-our-experts\/\">alignment with the global mine action sector<\/a>, Project Masam\u2019s responsibilities include the clearance, removal or destruction of landmines stockpile and explosive remnants of war.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>By destroying the explosive items, Project Masam ensures they can no longer function as designed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectmasam.com\/eng\/the-importance-of-clearing-unexploded-ordnance-to-prevent-repurposing-as-deadly-ieds\/\">or be repurposed<\/a>\u2013 this effectively protects civilian populations and helps to eradicate these deadly weapons.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Project Masam carried out the destruction and detonation of 20 landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Al-Hariqiyah area, in Dhubab district of Yemen&#8217;s Taiz governorate.
