Project Masam clears 5,962 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 5,962 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in September 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,384 landmines and UXO last week, including two anti-personnel landmines, six anti-tank mines, and 1,375 UXO during the period. This brings the total number of items removed between 1 September 1 and 27 September to 5,962.
The project teams specifically removed 23 anti-personnel landmines, 110 anti-tank mines, 5,816 and 13 IEDs during the same period.

The project’s demining teams cleared 233,833 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 1,067,007.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 60,268,351 square metres of Yemeni land.
