The Saudi project for landmines clearance in Yemen “Masam” continues its humanitarian mission in securing Yemen and the Yemeni people from the mines catastrophe that the Houthi militias left in the deserts, valleys, mountains and Yemeni coasts.
In Bab Al Mandab directorate on the western coast, the fishermen dream of living peacefully came true with the arrival of Masam’s engineering teams, as 4 engineering teams continue in Bab Al Mandab, for the second year, their humanitarian mission in securing fishing harbors and fish landings to secure the lives of fishermen and empower them to go back to their work in a safe way.
And an in exclusive statement to Masam’s media office, the engineer Jalal Amer, the leader of team 24 Masam reiterated that his team was able to secure 8 minefields that the Houthis implanted in fishermen harbors and fish farms along the coasts of Bab Al Mandab directorate.
The engineer Jalal said that his team has been able to remove 850 anti-tank landmines and more that 250 anti-personnel mines, since the start of its task.
Jalal Amer noted that the field where his team is working at the moment is the field number 9 in Shoab Al Maa, of Bab Al Mandab directorate; the total size of the field is over 4500 meter square.
The leader of team 24 added that his engineering team was able to reduce the severity of injuries within the fishermen by 95%, noting that mines were a nightmare for workers in the fishing industry that led to killing and injuring dozens of fishermen.
