Walking above death or standing on a crater is a phrase we use to indicate the difficulty or seriousness of a mission, this time; however, these words are the true description of what demining engineering teams are going through in Yemen, they are actually going above the death that lies beneath the earth.
The teams of Masam project, as well as the national army teams, bear the consequences of this serious task and sacrifices. Masam’s teams lost 19 of the best of their men to secure the lives of thousands of people and did not back off from their noble goal, which strives to achieve a “mine-free Yemen”, but the thorns of the Houthi militias remain an obstacle for everyone, especially the citizen who they manipulated his strength, life, nerves and organs.
Al Jawf Governorate is one of the largest theaters to be filled by putschists with huge numbers of landmines, which is a serious threat to the lives of innocent people there. Despite the destruction of 15,000 anti-personnel and anti-vehicles mines, improvised explosive devices and missiles by the engineering teams of Masam project in cooperation with the National Mine Action Program Center, this governorate is still affected by the presence of thousands of landmines buried underground in various areas, this was stated by the Director of the Human Rights Office in Al-Jawf governorate “Abdulhadi al-Assar” during a press conference held by the Office to review the results of monitoring and documentation of landmine victims in the governorate since the beginning of the coup until this year.
During the conference, which was held in Al Hazm city in the presence of human rights activists and the media, including the Saudi news agency, Al-Assar said, “Houthi coup militias have planted thousands of landmines throughout the areas of the governorate which they have managed to get it under control”.
Pointing out that militias filled the areas that they were forced to withdraw from with landmines, where they deliberately rigged these areas to take the lives of hundreds of citizens and to cause total or partial disabilities to others.
