A landmine explosion has claimed the lives of two children and wounded a third in Yemen’s central province of Marib.

Two children were killed and a third was wounded in the Majzar district of Marib governorate as a result of the explosion of a landmine planted by the Houthi militia in the area.

Local sources in the governorate told Project Masam that two children, Saqr Muhammad Sinan, eight, and Qaaed Abdullah Khaima al-Sharif, aged 12, were killed in the explosion and 13-year-old Ghazi Faraj Ahmed Senan was seriously injured in the village of Malaha in the Majzar district of Marib governorate.

The sources indicated that the Houthi militias are continuing to plant the landmines in roads, grazing areas, farms, homes and schools in the area, and have so far refused to hand in maps of minefields to aid humanitarian landmine clearance operations.
