Project Masam Team 20 was called to a minefield after shepherds and sheep were gravely wounded in the Jabel Alnar area in the coastal Dhubab Directorate, in Taiz Governorate.

What they discovered was harrowing: 11 anti-personnel landmines had been planted in the village, in the grazing fields and on the road leading up to the village.

In total, the leader of Team 20 Othman AlGhouri said, five banned anti-personnel landmines were extracted and cleared from the area around the well, essential to families in the village. In a country faced by a severe and protracted water crisis, these wells are crucial.

We caught up with Mr AlGhouri, who told Project Masam about the situation in the village.
