The address of Dr. Vladimir Kuvshinov, Secretary-General of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO), at the anti-mine expedition during the launch ceremony of the demining project, Masam:
“My participation today in the vital event being held by the King Salman Relief Center (KSRelief) is my second, having taken part in the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, which was a success.”
“We meet today about an issue that is no less important, which is the threat of landmines. In particular, the ones that have taken many lives, not only in Yemen, but also in several other countries, including Libya, Syria, and Iraq.”
“Since their invention, mines have constituted a major threat to human beings. Thus, now more than ever, we, as institutions in charge of providing assistance and protection to civilians, must meet the expectations of the world and produce tangible results and conclusions on how to improve anti-mine mechanisms in Yemen and elsewhere.”
“Undeniably, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, has contributed tremendously to efforts that focus on protecting civilians and alleviating the physical and psychological suffering caused by mines.”
“Yemen has been an active member since it joined the organization. In turn, with the generous support from other member states, such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the organization will not abandon Yemen in these immensely hard times.”
“God bless you all.”
